About Me

My name is Lynne and I have played guitar for almost 40 years. I have been teaching Guitar, Bass, Ukulele, and Music Theory for 30 of those years. 

I am passionate about helping people become well-rounded, skilled, and knowledgeable musicians. I believe the way to do that is to be open to learning about how modern music works and not be fearful of theory. The combination of theory and practice is a powerful one but most guitarists, bassists and ukulele players tend to shy away from it because we often think it is irrelevant to us.  

There is a lot of unnecessary information to wade through when you are trying to understand how things work. This website is about making it as easy and relevant as possible to understand and use music theory and practical exam work to enhance your playing skills. 

There is a big gap between music theory, practical exams and performance in the real world. My intention is to show you how to bridge that gap.

I have extensive experience of teaching and creating courses for students and have put hundreds of people through a variety of exams – rock, acoustic, electric, bass, ukulele and theory exams. I have worked with young musicians teaching them songwriting and how to perform as part of a band. I have played in acoustic, punk, rock and soul bands as a guitarist and bassist and was even in a Ukulele band making a lot of noise with a distortion fuelled electric ukulele – fun times!

I am obsessed with all kinds of music but am a huge Queen fan and love all kinds of Hair Metal, 80’s rock, and pop – but have also been known to chill for hours listening to Joe Satriani, Mozart and Beethoven. Music is music, and it’s a whole world waiting for you to dive in and understand it.
